FEATURED WINE OF THE WEEK: BACKSBERG KOSHER PINOTAGE
We love South African wine! But, what could be better? Kosher, South African wine, of course! Better yet, Kosher Pinotage from South Africa!! Here’s why we love it:
This Kosher Pinotage by Backsberg Estate Cellars in Paarl, South Africa is 100% from the Pinotage grape, and it was wooded 30% for nine months. The oak derived vanillin nuances provide the perfect backdrop to youngberry and mulberry fruit flavours. Fresh, yet soft, this wine provides sheer Kosher Pinotage intensity with a supple finish. We suggest you enjoy this masterpiece with tomato based pasta dishes.
Backsberg’s Kosher Pinotage wine is Mevushal and Kosher for Passover. It is made under the auspices of the Cape Town Beth Din and the OU of the United States. Fermented on the skins for 4 days, pressed, pasteurized and bottled early. Prepared under supervision of the Cape Town Beth Din, makes this wine Mevushal / Kosher for passover. Currently, this wine is available at themarqueecellar.com in its 2010 vintage.
Backsberg Estate Cellars prides itself in its constant push for environmental friendliness. Backsberg of South Africa is South Africa’s original winery and vineyard to gain carbon neutral status. Additionally, Backsberg offers some of the highest quality and variety of Kosher wines.
