Silver Wings Winemaking Past Vintage

In pursuit of winemaker Keith Brien’s passion for crafting long-lived Single Estate wine, he established his own label ‘Silver Wings Wines’ highlighting a wine of Mourvedre and Shiraz fruit grown on 50-year-old vines in the Shepparton region of Central Victoria.

BLEND / COLOR:

60% Mourvedre, 40% Shiraz, Red / Deep blackish purple

PALATE/BOUQUET:

Rich berry fruits lead the way to broad earthy characters with hints of “mocha”. There is a concentration of mouth filling, spicy fruit characters which are balanced by fine drying tannins leaving a great length of finish. This wine has lovely balance now but is destined to improve for many years if cellared correctly. Deep blackberry fruit and “smoky” sweet oak characters with tannic / earthy undertones. Pair with grilled lamb chops and roast duck.

REGION NOTES:

100% single-vineyard fruit from the Conte Vineyards in Shepparton Central Victoria. This is the first release under the Silver Wings label from fruit sourced form the late Vincenzo Conte’s old block. The vineyard consists of plantings of approximately 60% Mourvedre and the balance Shiraz from the early 1960’s. Hand picked, the wines were aged in small French & American oak for a smooth, balanced flavor.
